The Victorian

The Mendocino Coast Victorian has three comfortable, graciously decorated bedrooms, each with its own ensuite.

The South bedroom has a double sized bed. While the North bedroom has a king sized bed which can be converted to two singles, if needed. The master bedroom has a queen sized bed and television. The master bath features two sinks, a claw foot bath tub and a separate shower.

A thoroughly modern kitchen and spacious dining room make entertaining and family meals a memorable experience. The kitchen island has bar style seating for quick meals or easy conversations with the chef of the house. A handy butler’s pantry keeps the dishes out of sight.

Amenities include satellite television and broadband internet with wireless access; a DVD player with an extensive DVD library. There is a gas fireplace with remote on/off switch and a covered porch with deck chairs for reading and relaxing outdoors.

Minutes by foot or car to the gorgeous and vast Manchester State Beach which includes 5 miles of sandy beach and hiking trails through the sand dunes. An easy walk to the local country market which stocks everything from bourbon to baby bottles.

The Victorian is located near the Manchester Grange, which makes it conveniently accessible for those once a month Sunday Grange Breakfasts or family reunions, wedding receptions and/or large gatherings.

  when we arrived at the Victorian home, we was surprised at the location, thinking when booking that it had more of a ocean scenery. We open the gate to find garbage all over the side patio. When walking in the house it had an odor and large cobwebs that my husband didn't see and walked thru. Needless to say our first impression was upsetting. But my daughter and myself cleaned up the 3 bags of garbage, we opened the windows (there's no locks on the windows) to air out the house, swept the wrap around porch, took down the cobwebs. Then unloaded the cars and started supper. After everyone was settled we walked around the house. We was happily surprised to see that every bedroom had its own bathroom and fireplace. The house had everything we could ask for. We could see all the updates which was beautiful. The tree in the front needed to be lifted back with cables, but we did enjoy the porch. We also had to get the propane tank filled. After we got past the first night, all in all we had a wonder time at the house.

  AMAZING! My phone calls were met with courtesy and excellent customer service, the home was beautiful-neat, clean, and charming. Ryan did a fabulous job of explaining the way to get into the house through the back driveway, was impecably helpful during our stay-answered my many questions via text promptly and thoroughly, and was very helpful in describing the area to us for ideas. Overall, our stay was peacful and enjoyable, exactly what my BIG family needed.

  The Victorian is a charming, roomy family home. The kitchen is super well equipped with a windowseat just perfect to perch on while waiting for the turkey to cook. There were six of us here for Thanksgiving hunkered down dancing and playing board games while the rains drenched the Mendocino coast. We awoke each morning to the quiet country and my only struggle was getting out of bed—- so high off the floor I wish there were stairs!
  
  The only problems seem to be with the lack of care and attention from the Irish Beach Rental Agency. We were told to pick up the house keys at 4pm but terrible traffic prevented our on time arrival. I called THREE times to inform them of this and no one had the courtesy to call me back and ease my distress. Turns out the keys are left in an UNLOCKED box out front of the office complete with a map of how to find the house. This is simply unsafe. But ok, got the keys, found the house, but struggled with how to get in. A few more words would have informed us that there is no front door from the street; it is completely fenced in. Who would ever think you had to drive through the community center, find the rolling gate and drive into the backyard? Then, try and find the door! All in the dark! Not cool. At the end of our stay there was no info regarding where to place our trash. We finally found a shed out back with some rotten cans and put our garbage inside, I hope it was found! The agency did not answer our calls.
  
  But, we really loved the house and would return, now that we know how to get inside!

  We had a great time staying at The Victorian. The whole experience staying at a home built in 1896 is a bit surreal. The owners have maintained the home interiors very tastefully. The Kitchen is totally a chefs kitchen. The event hall next to the property is the only drawback. There was a party the weekend we stayed and loud music till midnight was not desirable. Getting the keys to the house was an issue since the property management company didn't keep it at the location where they promised and we had to make couple of calls and they drove in to the property and handed over the keys. Overall a good Getaway. The country store is 3-4mins away and that made it very convenient. Thanks to the owners for letting us stay at The Victorian.

  This is an absolutely beautiful house -- the pictures in the listing don't do it justice. There are views of Arena Point lighthouse from the kitchen and living room windows. The windows are huge, the floorboards are old and lovely, and the kitchen is fantastic. What you can't see in the pictures is that the kitchen is divided in two parts. There's a 'public' kitchen in the main dining area with a large lovely marble island, a copper bar sink, the stove and a very comfy window seat. Adjoining that is a smaller 'butler's pantry' area that has the big deep sink, the dishwasher, more prep space, toaster, microwave, coffeemaker and teapot. It's a really great arrangement. We were in the house for eight days over the holidays and cooked enormous feasts nearly every night and the kitchen was absolutely up to the task -- we loved it. The upstairs bedrooms are all comfy and each has its own bathroom, all very clean and newly-renovated.
  
  The only downside is the neighboring grange hall. It's literally RIGHT next door, and the first night we were in the house (Christmas Eve) a large private party with extremely loud music started at about 7pm and went ABSOLUTELY ALL NIGHT LONG, ending the next afternoon at about 3pm. With the music blaring the entire time, all night, with no let up. No rowdiness or shouting or anything, just loud, loud, loud music all night long. We'd read another review that mentioned a rowdy July 4th party at the Grange so we did our best to figure out if there were going to be events at the hall while we were there, and there was no indication that the all night party was going to happen. So, if I were to rent the house again, I would definitely call the grange hall since they apparently don't put the schedule for private parties on their website, only events open to the public like weekend breakfasts. Just a word to the wise.

However, I am sorry about the noise you experienced from the Grange. It is a bummer that the house is in close proximity to the Grange hall for that reason. It isn't often a problem however it does occur, especially over the holidays with parties and what not.
